Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Also known as the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

In 1903 Puerto Vallarta was just a quaint small fishing village and the municipality began work on this iconic site that can be enjoyed from many of Hacienda San Angel´s elegant Suites. Work began in the early 1900´s and by 1917 the church had a foundation with pillars and a wall.  Residents were delighted to have a church in the making!  Over the next couple of years, a bell was donated and additional construction was added surrounding the church to offer residence to priests and vip visitors.

The church is a must visit when you come to Puerto Vallarta. Take a seat and people watch on the steps that lead upward to the church. There are many vendors selling delightful Virgin de Guadalupe objects and rosaries that are great gifts to take back to your loved ones.

Upon entry take in the statues and magnificent architecture. So many Puerto Vallarta families and foreigners have celebrated baptisms, weddings, funerals and weekly mass.

Enjoy a mass, service or peek in on a Mexican wedding. Don´t forget to try some delicious food across the street from the church of Guadalupe. El Campanario! Order a Mexican Pozole, enchiladas, sopes and fresh tropical flavored water………it´s all delicious.
